Your website self-check

See your website through a customer’s eyes.

Open your website on your phone and work through the questions below. Write down the first thing you would change.

Talk about your website

Can someone tell what you do?

Read the first screen. Does it name the service and explain who it is for? Check that your service area and any important limits are easy to find.

Can they decide whether you are a fit?

Look for a relevant example of your work or a genuine customer review. Explain what a customer receives and what happens next. Use a price only when you can describe the scope accurately.

Can they get in touch on a phone?

Follow the main enquiry link. Check that the form is readable and asks only for the details needed to respond. Try the phone link if calls are part of your service.

Does the enquiry reach the right person?

Send a clearly labelled test using your own details. Confirm that it reaches the right inbox and that the customer sees a useful acknowledgement. Agree who will reply.

Is there a helpful step for someone still deciding?

A planning guide, price explanation or short consultation may fit your business. Choose something your customer needs. If you offer email tips, explain what they will receive and let them choose.
